This study assessed the effectiveness of a social and emotional learning (SEL) program for improving social and emotional competencies among Basic Vocational Education and Training (VET) pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds. 110 first-year pupils (55 experimental, 55 control) participated. The SEL program, implemented over a school year by trained teachers, showed large effect sizes and statistically significant improvements in social and emotional competencies for the experimental group, suggesting its potential as an evidence-based intervention.
