This study investigates the relationship between perceived concern for COVID-19 transmission and public support for compact development in the United States. Data from a national online survey (n=1100) conducted in April 2022 indicates that individuals more concerned about COVID-19 transmission are less supportive of compact development policies. The study also finds mediating relationships between density, COVID-19 cases, information sources, and residential type on support for compact development. Policymakers should address public health concerns to maintain public support for compact development.
