This paper reports the development of a compact fluorescent labeling reagent, 2-isobutenylcarbonyl-1,3a,6a-triazapentalene (TAP-VK1), derived from 1,3a,6a-triazapentalenes. TAP-VK1 reacts specifically with aliphatic thiols, exhibiting a significant increase in fluorescence intensity after thiol addition. Its utility is demonstrated through the successful fluorescence imaging of Captopril, a small molecule drug, in living cells.
