This study evaluates the effects of implementing two teaching units on the development of social and civic competence among 110 secondary and high school students in Catalonia, Spain. A qualitative observational method, using ethnographic perspectives and field notes analyzed with QSR NVivo 12 software, examined the impact on citizenship and classroom climate. Findings highlight the formative value of the units in developing democratic, active, and critical citizenship, and the importance of creating supportive learning environments using active methodologies.
