This study investigated the impact of parental child-rearing gender-role attitudes (PCGA) on children's social adjustment in single- and two-parent families, exploring the mediating role of intergenerational identity. Data from 931 single-parent and 3732 two-parent families in Suzhou, China revealed that parents' PCGA and children's social adjustment were significantly higher in two-parent families. Children's identity with parents mediated the relationship between parents' femininity rearing and children's social adjustment, with this mediating model differing significantly between family structures.
