This study investigates the impact of agricultural credit on cattle production and deforestation in Colombia using spatial panel data models (2011–2020). Results indicate a significant but ambiguous relationship between credit access and cattle production, varying between positive and negative depending on the metric used (number vs. value of credits). Spatial dependence was observed in cattle production, suggesting spillover effects between departments. However, no relationship was found between credit access and deforestation, nor were spatial correlations detected for deforestation.
