This systematic review assessed the impact of targeted treatment and mass drug administration (MDA) strategies on schistosomiasis prevalence and intensity in African school-aged children. Twenty-seven studies showed a decrease in prevalence post-treatment, with varied intensity changes. The review highlighted that targeted treatment's effectiveness depends on frequency, complementary interventions, and uptake, while constant MDA programs, alongside preventative measures, are needed for elimination.
