This study investigates the factors influencing social entrepreneurial intentions (SEIs) among Chinese university students using the values-beliefs-norms (VBN) theory. Data from 769 students, collected via online surveys, were analyzed using partial least squares-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). Results show a positive influence of altruistic and traditional values on normative beliefs. However, awareness of consequences and attribution of responsibility did not significantly affect personal norms, potentially due to inadequate student socialization during the COVID-19 pandemic. Personal, injunctive, and descriptive social norms positively impacted SEIs. The study suggests strategies for fostering prosocial behaviors and promoting social entrepreneurship among students.
