This article explores the complexities of engaging with far-right racist discourse, examining whether dialogue is an effective counter-strategy. It analyzes the works of Özlem Cekic and Reni Eddo-Lodge, who represent contrasting approaches to addressing racism. Using discourse analysis, the authors investigate the potential for performative contradictions and unintended consequences when confronting hate speech. The article draws on the work of Foucault, Goffman, and Habermas to highlight the ideological dilemmas faced by those attempting to counter far-right narratives, emphasizing the crucial role of power structures and social context in shaping communicative outcomes.
