This study evaluated the effects of daily vitamin D-fortified yogurt drink, with or without added calcium, on serum adiponectin, SIRT1, and SIRT6 in adults with type 2 diabetes. 75 participants were randomly assigned to three groups: D-fortified yogurt (DY), calcium and D-fortified yogurt (CDY), and plain yogurt (PY). Both DY and CDY groups showed significant increases in serum adiponectin. The CDY group showed significant increases in SIRT1 and SIRT6. Changes in 25(OH)D significantly predicted changes in adiponectin, but this association disappeared after adjusting for SIRT1 changes. The association between 25(OH)D and HbA1c remained significant even after adjusting for SIRT1. Daily vitamin D-fortified yogurt increased circulating SIRT1 and SIRT6, with CDY being more effective for SIRT6.
