Abstract
This paper introduces a novel smart polarization and spectroscopic holography (SPLASH) system for real-time microplastics (MPs) identification. SPLASH integrates multi-dimensional features (polarization states, holographic patterns, and texture) to achieve highly accurate and efficient MP identification without a separate spectroscopic system. Using machine learning, SPLASH demonstrates over 0.8 AUC and less than 0.05 variance in discriminating MPs, showing promise for MP pollution assessment and monitoring.
