This study investigated the impact of varying dietary zinc levels on glucose-stimulated zinc secretion (GSZS) in healthy and malignant mouse prostates using MRI and synchrotron radiation X-ray fluorescence (SR-XRF). Zinc deficiency caused systemic dysregulation and weight loss. Healthy mice showed increased zinc efflux from the prostate with higher dietary zinc, unlike TRAMP mice (prostate cancer model). This suggests that dietary zinc supplementation before GSZS MRI may enhance image contrast, improving prostate cancer detection.
