Abstract
This paper argues that digital humanities methods offer a solution to the problem of inconsistent interpretations in philosophy, which the author terms "hermeneutic Calvinball." The author contends that digital methods can establish a baseline for the importance of concepts within a philosopher's work, track changes in emphasis over time, and identify key conceptual connections. This approach is demonstrated through an analysis of Nietzsche's writings on shame, revealing a greater emphasis on shame than previously recognized in the scholarship.
