Abstract
This randomized controlled trial investigates the effects of intermittent fasting combined with protein pacing (IF-P) versus continuous caloric restriction (CR) on gut microbiome (GM) and metabolomic profiles in overweight/obese individuals. IF-P (n=21) showed improved gut symptoms, increased abundance of *Christensenellaceae* microbes, and higher circulating cytokines and amino acids promoting fat oxidation compared to CR (n=20). CR showed increased metabolites associated with longevity. These differences highlight the role of GM and metabolomic factors in weight loss maintenance and body composition.
