This study investigates the combined impact of film color and editing on emotional perception using behavioral and fMRI techniques. Two experiments with a two-factor design assessed the interactions between film color (colored and black-and-white) and editing (fearful, neutral, happy). Experiment 1 (117 participants) showed a significant interaction effect on valence ratings of a neutral face. Experiment 2 (67 participants) revealed distinct brain activations (insula, ACC, middle frontal gyrus), with an interaction effect in the left ACC. The results highlight the integral role of color and editing in influencing viewers' emotional perception and offer practical implications for filmmakers.
