This study compared the brain network dynamics of 87 students (4–18 years old) from Montessori and traditional schools using resting-state fMRI and diffusion-weighted imaging. Montessori students showed higher functional integration (system diversity) and neural stability (lower spatiotemporal diversity) than traditionally schooled students, primarily in cerebellar and attentional networks. This suggests experience-dependent plasticity in learning-related networks.
