Abstract
This study compared the effectiveness of various anthropometric obesity indices in predicting metabolic syndrome (MetS) among Malaysian vegetarians and determined sex-specific optimal cut-off values. Using data from 273 vegetarians, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analyses assessed BMI, body fat percentage, waist-to-height ratio (WHtR), lipid accumulation product (LAP), visceral adiposity index (VAI), body shape index (ABSI), and body roundness index (BRI). LAP emerged as the best predictor of MetS, followed by WHtR in both sexes. Optimal cut-off values for WHtR and LAP were suggested for both men and women.
