This experimental research, based on the STEAM program, investigates the use of augmented reality (AR) e-content to improve learning retention (LR) and critical thinking (CT) among intermediate school students in Ha'il, KSA. The study involved 120 8th-grade students divided into control and experimental groups. Results showed that AR use significantly enhanced students' LR and CT skills. High mental capacity students demonstrated better CT skills than their low mental capacity counterparts. Male students showed more significant improvement in science learning with AR than female students. Future research should focus on quantifying learning outcomes and studying underserved communities.
