📖 About the Scholarship

The John Thompson Scholarship covers the full cost of DCU’s full-time MSc in Digital Marketing program each year. It is open to one student, either EU or non-EU.

This scholarship was established in 2008 to honor John Thompson, a prominent Irish newspaper executive. Over his nearly 30-year career, John played a significant role in the creation and growth of some of Ireland’s most iconic publications, including:

U Magazine
The Sunday World
The Irish Farmers Journal

John also served as:

Chief Executive of Associated Newspapers Ireland (publisher of the Irish Daily Mail and Irish Mail on Sunday)
Managing Director of Independent Star Limited (publisher of the Irish Daily Star)

The scholarship aims to bridge the gap between digital marketing and online journalism, encouraging graduates from business, journalism, and other diverse educational backgrounds to pursue digital marketing integrated with media and online journalism.

Full tuition fees for one student (EU or non-EU) in DCU’s full-time MSc in Digital Marketing program.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

To apply for this scholarship, applicants must:

Have applied to the MSc Digital Marketing program at DCU Business School.
Note that students cannot be awarded more than one DCU Business School scholarship at a time.
