To be eligible for the Hilton Humanitarian Prize, nominees must meet the following criteria:

• Nominees must be organizations, not individuals.
• Must be nongovernmental, publicly supported charitable organizations.
• Must have been legally established for at least five years.
• Must have audited financial statements for at least five years.
• Must have expenditures greater than USD $750,000 in their most recent audited fiscal year.
• Cannot be a Hilton Humanitarian Prize Laureate or a local office/member organization of a Prize Laureate.
• Cannot be local offices or member organizations of parent organizations or fiscally sponsored organizations.
• Cannot be specific programs within organizations or university-based projects.
• Cannot be academic institutions providing educational degrees. However, affiliates of academic institutions may qualify if they maintain independent tax-exempt status and produce their own audited financials.
