The Impact of Sleep Interventions on Athletic Performance: A Systematic Review
L. A. Cunha, J. A. Costa, et al.
This systematic review of 25 intervention studies (2011–2021) shows that increasing sleep—through longer nocturnal sleep or daytime naps—most consistently enhances physical and cognitive performance in athletes; mindfulness and light manipulation are promising, while sleep hygiene, device removal, and cold-water immersion showed limited effects.
