Abstract
This study compares the effectiveness of ChatGPT, a monolingual learner's dictionary (LDOCE), and a bilingual dictionary (Diki.pl) in helping English language learners with receptive and productive lexical tasks. Using 166 university students (B2-C1 proficiency) and 40 uncommon English phrasal verbs, the researchers found ChatGPT to be more effective than either dictionary in production tasks and superior to the monolingual dictionary, but not the bilingual dictionary, in reception tasks.
