This paper investigates the effect of differentiated platform governance on online review manipulation. The authors develop a game theoretical model and conduct an empirical analysis using Amazon.com review data. Results show that platform governance targeting manipulation intensity and duration effectively mitigates manipulation probability, while governance targeting perceived product quality shows an inverted U-shape relationship.
