Abstract

This study examines how activism and radicalism mediate the relation between the search for status and risk-taking behaviors in adolescents, moderated by sex. 482 participants (mean age 17.97) completed questionnaires assessing status-seeking, activism, radicalism, and risk-taking. Results revealed an indirect effect of status-seeking on risk-taking via activism and radicalism, with sex moderating these relationships. Activism correlated with reduced risk-taking, while radicalism correlated with increased risk-taking, with stronger effects in boys than girls.
