Abstract
This study investigates female passengers’ safety perception and prevention actions when using ride-hailing services in China. Using data from 7898 ride-hailing criminal adjudications and 596 female respondents, the study reveals that driver’s words and actions significantly influence safety judgments, and traveling with companions enhances perceived safety. Preventative actions include using mobile phones for communication and avoiding risky situations. Differences in perception and prevention were found based on age, education, residence, ride-hailing frequency, and victimization experiences.
