Abstract
This study uses Spotify streaming data from the UK to examine changes in music listening behavior during the first COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. It finds a significant increase in listening to songs older than five years compared to the pre-lockdown period, a trend not observed in 2019. This increase occurred for both positive and negative songs, suggesting that nostalgia-seeking behavior, while potentially reinforced by a preference for positive music, was not solely driven by a positivity bias.
