Abstract
This paper examines punitive damages in consumer public interest litigation in China since its implementation in 2013. The study uses data from China Judgements Online to analyze the characteristics of punitive damages, including calculation methods, judicial attitudes, and the management of awarded funds. The findings reveal increasing use of punitive damages, particularly in food and medicinal product cases, with judges generally supporting such claims. The study also discusses the attributes of punitive damages, their calculation, and management, proposing recommendations for standardization.
