This study uses survey data from the United States to examine public concerns about connected and automated vehicles (CAVs), focusing on safety, privacy, and data security. It finds that demographic variables like gender, age, race, ethnicity, income, location, and political ideology are significantly associated with these concerns, and that these associations vary across different policy issues. For example, women are more concerned about safety than men, and Hispanics are more concerned about privacy than non-Hispanics. The research highlights the need for a nuanced understanding of public opinion when addressing the policy implications of CAVs.
