This paper presents a novel method for monitoring the near-real-time changes in war-induced population displacement and anthropogenic CO₂ emissions in Ukraine using social media data. Leveraging geo-tagged Twitter data, along with baseline population and CO₂ emission data (GRACED), the study estimates monthly changes in population and CO₂ emissions across three sectors (residential, transport, and industry). The findings show a significant correlation between estimated and reference CO₂ emission changes, highlighting the potential of this approach for humanitarian assistance and climate policy formulation.
