Abstract
This paper investigates consistent patterns of toxic content across various social media platforms over time. Analyzing a large dataset spanning eight platforms and 34 years, the study reveals persistent conversation patterns and user behavior regardless of platform, topic, or time. While longer conversations show higher toxicity, toxicity doesn't always deter participation, nor does it necessarily escalate over time. The analysis suggests that contrasting opinions significantly contribute to more hostile discussions. The persistence of these patterns highlights the crucial role of human behavior in shaping online discourse.
