Abstract

This mixed-methods study investigated perceptions of menopause care in the UK, revealing inadequate provision. An online survey of 952 women analyzed quantitative data (descriptive statistics per menopause stage) and qualitative data (thematic analysis of 21 responses). 74.74% sought help; oral (68.83%) and topical medication (17.21%) were most common treatments. Mental health screening was lacking. Qualitative data revealed six themes highlighting poor care, dismissive attitudes from healthcare professionals (HCPs), poor treatment management, inadequate symptom information, poor HCP knowledge, and the need for self-advocacy. Improvements in HCP knowledge, empathetic care, and patient involvement are crucial.
