Abstract
This descriptive qualitative study investigated the challenges and strategies experienced by liver transplant patients during the COVID-19 pandemic in a large Brazilian hospital. Twenty-three patients (mean age 62, mean MELD score 20) were interviewed. Challenges included increased dependence on others, fear of contamination, and isolation from family. Strategies involved adapting daily routines, reorganizing home tasks, forming support networks, and reducing healthcare appointments. The study highlights the patients' emotional distress and their resilience in developing coping strategies, emphasizing the need for healthcare team support.
