This study investigates the optimal management model (not-for-profit vs. for-profit) for high-quality development of private universities in China. Using system dynamics modeling and a case study of K University, the research simulates four development paths: steady/rapid development under not-for-profit and for-profit orientations. The findings suggest that a not-for-profit model with government financial support promotes higher quality development, leading to greater financial surplus and investment in school operations.
