Abstract

This research investigates the typical meanings of the NP de VP construction in Modern Chinese and the meaning patterns of lexical items in both the VP and NP slots using covarying collexeme analysis and hierarchical cluster analysis. The findings reveal typical meanings such as the pairing of "regulations" with "implementation", "systems" with "establishment", and "results" with "achievement". Meaning patterns in the VP slot include "cognition", "augmentation", "implementation", "achievement", "establishment", and "report", while those in the NP slot include "internal traits", "medical names", "regulations", "results", "systems", and "business". The study scientifically identifies instances expressing typical meanings and objectively uncovers meaning patterns.
