Maternal high-fat diet (moHF) alters offspring's metabolic profile in a sex-dependent manner. Female offspring exhibit remodeled triglyceride profiles in SAT and BAT, increased thermogenesis, and enhanced brown adipocyte differentiation in BAT, potentially mitigating metabolic complications later in life. Male offspring, however, show BAT whitening, VAT hyperplasia, and impaired metabolic profiles. moHF differentially programs gene expression in WAT and BAT of both sexes.
