Abstract
Visual working memory (VWM) prioritization, the ability to selectively attend to specific items, is investigated using intracranial EEG (iEEG) recordings in epilepsy patients. Representational Similarity Analysis (RSA) with Deep Neural Networks (DNNs) reveals distinct coding schemes in ventral visual stream (VVS) and prefrontal cortex (PFC). Recurrent DNNs match PFC representations in beta band (15–29 Hz) after retro-cue, and VVS representations in lower frequencies (3–14 Hz) later. Findings highlight distinct coding and representational formats of prioritized content in VVS and PFC.
