Is Cognitive Flexibility Equivalent to Shifting? Investigating Cognitive Flexibility in Multiple Domains
T. Ionescu, R. L. Goldstone, et al.
This exploratory study tested whether cognitive flexibility reflects a single general mechanism or is domain-specific across language, mathematics, perception, and executive function in 221 participants (US and Romania). Partial correlations were few and factor analysis revealed no overarching flexibility factor—only a shared speed-of-processing link for math and language. Research conducted by Thea Ionescu, Robert L. Goldstone, Doris Rogobete, and Mihaela Taranu.
