Intentionally awakening from sleep through lucid dreaming

New research by Cameron Sandell, Tadas Stumbrys, Ken A. Paller, and Remington Mallett shows that lucid dreamers can intentionally wake themselves to end nightmares. Participants instructed to wake reported faster awakenings, and greater lucidity and lucid-dream skills were linked to quicker wake-up times and reduced negative emotions — suggesting trainable wake-up techniques could relieve nightmare suffering.... show more
