Abstract
This study investigated the effect of repeated exposure to male intruders on aggression in lactating dams and pup-sensitized virgin female mice. Repeated testing led to escalated aggression in dams, but not in virgins. Inhibition of the medial amygdala (MeA) using DREADDs blocked the increase in maternal aggression in dams on the second testing day, suggesting a key role for the MeA in experience-dependent aggression escalation.
