This paper investigates the impact of the UEFA Euro 2020 football championship on the spread of COVID-19 across 12 participating countries. Using Bayesian modeling and accounting for gender imbalance in COVID-19 data, the study attributes approximately 840,000 COVID-19 cases to the championship. The impact varied across countries, with the strongest effects observed in Scotland and England. The findings provide quantitative insights to help assess and mitigate the effects of large-scale events on pandemic spread.
