Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) is a hyper-inflammatory condition associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection. This study investigated the acute cardiac involvement and short-and mid-term cardiac outcomes in children with MIS-C following three different waves of SARS-CoV-2 infection. 131 children were divided into three groups based on the timing of their hospitalization, corresponding to the prevalence of Wuhan, Alpha, and Delta variants. The study found favorable cardiac outcomes with normalization of laboratory, ECG, and ECHO abnormalities in most children within 5-6 weeks following MIS-C, regardless of the infecting SARS-CoV-2 variant. While there were some initial abnormalities, these largely resolved, and significant differences between the groups were not observed.
