Abstract
This multi-part, mixed-methods study evaluated the impact of the Surfer Rescue 24/7 (SR24/7) program in Australia and New Zealand. Triangulated results from a retrospective survey, interviews with rescuers, and pre-post skill confidence ratings showed high participant satisfaction, increased safety awareness, improved rescue skills, and boosted confidence in emergency response. The study highlights surfers' crucial role in coastal drowning prevention and underscores SR24/7's effectiveness in equipping surfers to act responsibly and safely. Expanding resources towards surfers could significantly enhance community-level ocean safety.
