Abstract
This observational study investigated the impact of robotic bariatric surgery (RBS) on surgical workflow by identifying flow disruptions (FDs). Twenty-nine RBS procedures were observed, revealing an average FD rate of 25.05 per hour. FDs were most frequent during insufflation/robot docking and patient closure/transport. Coordination challenges, particularly staff/instrument unavailability and equipment readjustments, were the primary contributors to these disruptions.
