Abstract
This paper explores the use of story-based text messages to improve mental wellness. Formative interviews and focus groups with 15 participants identified desired story elements like authenticity and relatability. A subsequent deployment with 42 participants examined story content and format challenges. The study found that stories helped participants reflect on their thinking patterns, highlighting design implications for mental wellness interventions using story-based text messages.
