Abstract
This paper reports the single-crystal-to-single-crystal (SCSC) synthesis of a two-dimensional polymer (2D-P) via a thermally induced topochemical azide-alkyne cycloaddition (TAAC) reaction. A designed monomer with two azide and two alkyne units undergoes sequential SCSC polymerizations: first to a 1D polymer (1D-P) with 1,5-triazolyl linkages, and then to a 2D-P with both 1,5- and 1,4-triazolyl linkages in orthogonal directions. The 2D-P is thermally stable and can be exfoliated into 2D sheets.
