J. Zhang, X. Yang, et al.

This research, conducted by Jiayu Zhang, Xiaodong Yang, Manman Xia, and Dagang Lu, explores innovative ways to motivate residents in China to engage in urban settlement regeneration decision-making. By applying the Theory of Planned Behavior and testing effective guidance measures, the study reveals the unique influences of personality on community participation.

Abstract
This paper investigates how to guide residents in China to actively participate in urban settlement regeneration decision-making. Using the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), a structural equation model (SEM) and survey were used to identify external environmental factors influencing participation. Guidance measures (enhancing external pressure and providing regeneration information) were tested in experiments involving 96 residents in Harbin, divided into six groups. Results showed that incentives and regeneration case sharing were the most effective measures, with significant differences in effectiveness based on personality (introversion/extraversion). Implications for community and government actions are discussed.
