Abstract
This study investigates ethnic discrimination in European amateur football through a field experiment. Researchers sent emails with native- and foreign-sounding names to amateur football clubs across 22 European countries. The results reveal a significantly lower response rate for foreign-sounding names, indicating evidence of ethnic discrimination in this social domain. This challenges the notion of equal access in sport and highlights collective exclusion mechanisms that hinder the integration of ethnic minorities.
