Sinusitis is a common condition with various forms and different etiologies. This review highlights the association between COVID-19 and sinusitis, focusing on the impact of COVID-19 on acute invasive fungal rhinosinusitis (AIFR). Evidence suggests a potential negative impact of chronic sinusitis on COVID-19 outcomes, although results are conflicting. COVID-19 can also cause olfactory dysfunction, usually temporary. The review also explores the association between COVID-19 and AIFR, a life-threatening condition often associated with immunocompromised individuals. The review analyzes studies examining the epidemiological characteristics, pathogenesis, and clinical implications of sinusitis in the COVID-19 era.
