Abstract
This study compared the effects of rice-based (brown rice-based diet: BRD; white rice-based diet: WRD) and wheat-based diets (WD) on bowel movements in young women with functional constipation. A randomized controlled trial with 39 participants (13 per group) was conducted over four weeks. The primary outcome was total colon transit time (TCTT). Results showed that both BRD and WD significantly reduced TCTT compared to WRD, suggesting that both diets improved bowel function.
