This randomized controlled trial investigated the efficacy of a structured basic carbohydrate counting (BCC) education program, added to standard dietary care, on glycemic control in individuals with type 2 diabetes (T2D). The primary outcomes were changes in HbA1c and glycemic variability (MAGE) after six months. While no significant glycemic effects were observed, BCC improved carbohydrate estimation skills. The study highlights the complexity of T2D management and suggests a need for more comprehensive strategies.
